The Artesia Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is designed and capable of investigating all violent felony crimes which include murder, rape, child abuse, kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery with weapons. The Criminal Investigations Division’s goals are to disrupt and prevent violent criminals’ activities through the detection and identification of individuals and groups that have intentions of committing crimes against the citizens and visitors of Artesia. We work in a collaborative effort with several Federal Law Enforcement entities as well as State and other local law enforcement entities to hold violent criminals accountable for their actions. This collaborative effort includes the prosecution of violent criminals at the Federal level when appropriate and advantageous to the continued safety of the community.
The Criminal Investigations Division is under the command of Pete Quinones. Commander Quinones has been with the department for over 15 years. He’s a former graduate of Artesia High School and New Mexico State University.
